Back in the old days when everything was so simple famous comedian Rodney Dangerfield was on top of his game in the funny business. The line that made him famous. "I get no respect" made millions laugh throughout his career. Dangerfield ended up receiving the respect he deserved but his catchy line may also describe an elite college football coach that doesn't get the respect he deserves. For the past two years the Ohio State Buckeyes have steamrolled through the Big Ten with ease. Before the 2006 season there were doubters to whether or not the preseason favorite. Ohio State can go through the season undefeated. OSU would have to replace three All-American linebackers in A. J. Hawk. Bobby Carpenter and Anthony Schlegel along with most of their secondary. Added to the fact that they had to go to Austin for a rematch with Texas and the always tough Big Ten would make it difficult for OSU to go undefeated. In 2006 though the Buckeyes proved there doubters wrong and won the Big Ten title by going undefeated. In the National Championship game against Florida. OSU got thumped losing 41-14 making OSU the laughing stock of college football for the whole summer. Then before the 2007 season the majority predicted the Buckeyes to place third or fourth place in the Big Ten. Most of the pundits said they would have a rebuilding year. Can you blame them though? They did lose most of their offense including Heisman winner Troy Smith and first round draft pick Ted Ginn. Not only that but OSU had a rough schedule as they had to travel to hostile environments such as Washington. Penn State and Michigan (well Michigan isn't hostile but it's still Michigan). There was real no mention of OSU when discussing who the Big Ten favorites are. Instead everyone liked to talk about how Michigan was stacked on offense or how P. J. Hill was going to carry Wisconsin to a Big Ten championship. In the end though the Buckeyes proved the experts and fans of opposing teams wrong by going 11-1 and winning the Big Ten title.. again. Just like the previous year though they lose in the National Championship to another SEC team in LSU which fueled fans even more to rag on OSU. It's becoming a formality now. The doubters doubt OSU every season if they lost a lot or if their schedule is tough. Opposing fans say 'they can't do it again'. 'this year they'll be mediocre'. 'they'll be soft this year'. In some years that's understandable like last year. OSU wasn't supposed to be good and were supposed to go through a tough rebuilding year. They lost Troy Smith. Antonio Pittman. Ted Ginn. Jim Tressel knows what it feels like to be doubted. Before taking the head coach position at OSU. Tressel was a head coach at Youngstown State where he won four Division 1-AA National Championships and showed up in nine of them. However when OSU made the decision to hire Tressel as their head coach. Buckeye nation wasn't too excited about the hire. After they fired John Cooper for his poor record against rival Michigan. OSU fans were looking for a big named coach to come and take the reigns. With Tressel though they didn't get a big name coach and it took many years for OSU fans to finally accept Tressel as their coach for the future. One of my puppy dogs. Blue is going under the knife today. She apparently has a mass about the size of a quarter in her bladder. Think a good thought or displace out some good mojo for Blue this morning. As an aside. Blue is a mut. I picked her up from someone giving away free puppies about 3 years ago. I think she's part Husky. Blue Heeler and Australian Shepard but I'm not sure. I have a real soft spot for muts and that's what she is: and I thought overall it was really well-written except I would disagree with the notion that Texas Tech only gets 4-star recruits once in a blue moon. Last year Texas Tech had 3 4-star recruits including Jeffers. Sesay and Dixon. The year before that. Lonnie Edwards was a 4-star recruit. That being said. Texas Tech doesn't sign 4-star recruits at the rate of UT and TAMU but the Red Raiders will write 1 to 3 each recruiting class. Nevertheless this is a good read and certainly worth your time. Balance in the spread has to be measured in touches. Backs slots and outside receivers should all get about the same number of touches. Obviously the best back the beat slot and the best outside receiver should get the most touches from their respective groups but the defense needs to be forced to defend everyone. X....... T. G. C. G. T.... Y.... B.............................. Z................ Q.. A.. If X has 9 touches. Y has 8 touches. Z has 13 touches. B has 19 touches (14 from the slot and 5 from the backfield) and A has 17 touches; you would have 22 touches by the outside receivers. 22 touches by slot receivers and 22 touches by backs. That. I submit is pretty good balance change surface though the more talented players (A. B and Z) got more touches and passing and rushing were not even brought into account. I also think a lot of coaches think the Spread Offense is just about passing it all over the place while ignoring the backs. i checked on her after work and the vet got swamped but was staying late to start the surgery yes that’s the bad thing she’s a great dog really sweet and i have a huge soft spot for puppy dogs. i always forget this argument about distribution when arguing with my friends about whether or not TT’s offense is balanced. just called and said that she was doing well. It was actually a kill in her bladder apparently it was the size of a peppermint (does anyone want to think about passing that S. O. B.?) I’m picking her up tomorrow.

Pittsburgh I desire Clemson (living in Greenville SC and having a wife who is a fan ordain do that) but what is up with them being ranked SO high. They were close to going to ACC championship game measure year and have some good players coming approve but still. No disrepect to them at all but Phil Steele has them 5th. They been recruiting like crazy lately too. I actually like the position UT is in this year being ranked lower and being picked to end 3rd-4th in the SEC east. No pressure on UT and UT plays MUCH better as the underdog. Would be nice to be ranked in the top say...12-15 just so we dont have as far to climb in the polls to ensure a BCS game. Like they say just win the games and the rankings ordain go. I desire Clemson (living in Greenville SC and having a wife who is a fan will do that) but what is up with them being ranked SO high.
