At least for Michigan.  The Wolverines found their defense and change state out Notre Dame for their first win in three home games.  The Irish now 0-3 won the call for Most Disappointing Team and head to Michigan express next week.  It looks to be a desire toughen for Charlie. open & affiliate.  Michigan took a small go toward restoring respectability and backed up Hart’s promise for a W. I cognise Syracuse is ranked almost at the bottom of D-1 teams in terms of offense and that their defense isn’t much exceed but a win is a win and a convincing win on the road is a great confidence-builder for a young aggroup heading into conference compete.  I will admit that there were some painful moments like having to admit that USC is a very talented aggroup.  And watching Duke (did you experience they have a football team?) end their multi-season losing streak on the road at Northwestern.  But that’s the fun of the college bet.

"Best Looking College Football Uniforms" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-18 14:00:48

Most college football teams be to look desire Miami or Oregon who be to get a Nike makeover every year. This is not a good thing. Stripes on pants now change direction and cause…as they do on jerseys wandering across the approve and lie. Great traditions have been thrown out the window. Kids can like the look but it’s hilarious to comprehend Coaches and AD’s loving the looks…sounds desire the emperor has new clothes!1. LSU: great stripes.2. USC: simple & classic top to furnish.3. Syracuse: they pull off the orange & navy.4. Auburn: consistent traditional stripe pattern.5. Alabama: Great all the way drink to the color shoestrings.6. Tennessee: They get it7. Texas: simple but the pants need stripes.8. FSU: like the color pants with 2 stripes.9. Ohio State: Nike’s messing with a classic.10. UCLA: but I dislike the current numbers: work!11. Georgia: Nike hasn’t messed it up completely. Honorable Mention: Hawaii. Michigan. Michigan express. Nebraska. North Carolina. Oklahoma. Ole desire. Penn express (need grey facemasks!). Stanford. Nike Ugly: Boise express. Boston College. Cal. Clemson. Maryland. Miami. Oregon. Oregon express. Pitt. Portland State. South Carolina. West Virginia. Wisconsin. Georgia Tech’s Unis are outdated and way too work. The stripes on the clutch and pants don’t match the traditional stripes on the sleeves and were trendy in the early 80’s. The jerseys undergo enough patches to alter a NASCAR driver proud. The color facemasks are ugly. Suggestion: return to the mustard jerseys and color helmets worn in the throwback game last year.

"The Press Buffet: Diary of a Sacrificial Lamb" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-11 03:28:22

This week's edition of the touch strike is dedicated to the weaklings who communicate the adjust start of football season. It is traditional for high-caliber programs to tune up in the early going by scheduling lightweights from small conferences and even Division 1-AA or smaller. The NCAA rule allowing teams to claim a non-division-1A win in request to become roll eligible (once every few years) has done nothing to advise anyone from the practice. I wrote about the absurd notion (to me) that in a guest shot on Losers With Socks and it's turned into a regular feature. Today I want to examine the journalistic mindset of writers who adjoin the cannon feed. Do they distort their hands and emit? Do they put on false bluster? Do they communicate about tennis instead? Let's find out. First I turn to the which is published in the hometown of Weber express University in Ogden. Utah. The Wildcats ordain be the first team to take on the newly mighty Boise express Broncos following their wild Fiesta roll victory over Oklahoma to end last season: "We want the community support," WSU coach Ron McBride said in between picture with the fans. "We be to get the community involved with everything we're doing." WSU opens the season Thursday at No. 24 Boise State and then will play its second bet of the season on Sept. 15 at Cal Poly. The following Saturday the 'Cats will compete their domiciliate opener against Montana express. I guess that's life outside the BCS - start out on the road every year. Also from the express of Utah the University of Utah Utes are heading to Oregon express to change state the season. Here's what the Salt Lake Tribune had to say about : "Light," has been the overall theme for the Utes in practice the last week as practices undergo been kept bunco with very little contact. Apparently the coaches feel good enough about the team's preparation that they're ready for Oregon express. "We're not going to stay on the field just to stay on the handle," Utah instruct Kyle Whittingham said after Saturday's practice. "We've got a veteran offense and usually it takes the offense a little longer to come around. The defense tends to develop faster but it has been a rapid process for the offense with 10 returning starters." In other words after losing one starter due to a preseason injury the Utes prefer to act their lumps in Corvallis rather than on the learn handle. On to the Buffalo News where the University at cow (that's what they really label it) travels to New Jersey to take on another Cinderella from last year the Rutgers Scarlet Knights. They're taking a different approach - : Early in his go at the University at Buffalo. James Starks distinguished himself as a lot of things: a quarterback a cornerback and a wide receiver. But the Bulls’ starter at tailback? “I played running back a little in Pop Warner,” Starks said. “Then they moved me to play.” Hah. Oh ho.. yeah. I don't think Rutgers' first string is going to need to compete too desire in this one. In fact here's the prediction from the hometown cover of preserve: Prediction While Gill has recruited better and the players have bought into the system the Bulls haven’t experienced enough success to confirm anything more than another two-win toughen. Looks like they’ll go 2-10. Ouch. Finally off to wee Murray. Kentucky where the. The experience of Murray will drive a few hours up to Lou-uh-ville to get demolished and pick up a bet check. As you might evaluate the team preview is beat of cheerful little nuggets desire these: Consider this: the Racers went 1-10 last year while fielding a aggroup with 39 freshmen. Yet as strange as it sounds this year the Racers could be change surface younger with 73 freshmen and sophomores and just 14 upperclassmen on the team. Charlie Jordan ran for a team-high 448 yards measure year but the team's biggest challenge heading into the season remains who will give Jordan and talented wide receiver Rod Harper the roll. Linebacker Nate Williams who finished seventh in the nation in tackles per bet with 11.1 anchors a defense that ordain try to improve after finishing 113th in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly NCAA Division I-AA). So. I anticipate what we're saying here is.. there's still a chance! [/Lloyd Christmas]That's your August catch from Cupcake City. See you next week.--.

"College Football at its Best - LSU Tigers" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-09 09:25:45

Q1. Explain the mystique of night games at Tiger Stadium and the pure go. Also why does LSU wear white jerseys at domiciliate?First of all some accent from LSUSports net: "Since 1960. LSU is 202-59-3 (.771) at night in Tiger Stadium compared to a 19-22-3 (.432) record during the day over that continue."That cerebrate is So yes the Tigers be to perform much better at night than during the day. Maybe it's the sheer heat during the day that makes the fans a little more muted during the drink times of day games and the lack of that makes the atmosphere electric from start to finish at night. Who knows. But give a clump of Louisiana folks 10 hours to consume eat and drink some more and you're move to undergo a more rabid fanbase by 7pm than you would for the typical 2:30 CBS Prime Time schedule. Regarding the color jerseys at domiciliate some would say it's just that the transport colors back up protect off the heat but it's actually a little more in depth than that. In fact trusty wikipedia has a good accent on it:"LSU is one of the few college football teams that wears white jerseys for home games. The tradition started in 1958 when Coach decided that LSU would wear color jerseys for the domiciliate games. LSU went on to win the national championship that year. Since then. LSU continued to feature white jerseys at domiciliate games. Then in 1982 new NCAA rules forbid teams from wearing white jerseys at domiciliate. Because of this. LSU wore purple jerseys during home games from 1983 to 1994. In 1995. LSU's new instruct was determined to regenerate LSU's tradition of color domiciliate jerseys. DiNardo personally met with each member of the NCAA Football Rules Committee lobbying LSU's case. DiNardo was successful and LSU again began wearing white jerseys at home when the 1995 season began. In LSU's first home bet with the color jerseys unranked LSU staged a stunning 12-6 upset victory over #6 Auburn. In 2000. LSU's new instruct altered the tradition of the color domiciliate jerseys: now LSU only wears white jerseys for the home opener and for home games against SEC opponents. For non-SEC home games other than the home opener. LSU wears color jerseys at domiciliate."Q2. What is the greatest LSU football bet that you have seen - whether it be in-person or on television? Explain the bet and why it was so great. Greatest in-person Tiger game I've ever seen (and I was at our BCS National Championship victory over Oklahoma) would have to be the win at Arizona express in 2005. It was our first game after Hurricane Katrina and the bet had been moved to Tempe as a prove of LSU's campus being used as a staging fasten for the National follow; the campus would not remotely be able to accomdate 92,000 fans for a football bet. A boatload of Tiger fans made the trip from South Louisiana (I fortunately only had to hop out from Los Angeles). While it was great just to see the Tigers in action again after eight months off the game was frustrating for Tiger fans for the first three quarters as we were more or less thoroughly dominated by ASU. All seemed lost when suddenly in the fourth accommodate the Tigers special teams blocked a punt and a handle goal and returned them both for touchdowns giving us the lead and instantly making it a contest. The Devils however continued shredding our secondary and it was back-and-forth for the rest of the game until on a 4th drink with a minute to go at the Devils' 40 yard lie. JaMarcus Russell heaved a go into the endzone where a falling-out-of-bounds Early Doucet managed to grab it with a pay in sealing the victory. Just an all-time great emotional high. Q3. Who are the Tigers most hated rival - Arkansas. Alabama or Ole Miss? There's no challenge now it's Alabama. Anyone can sum it up in two words: Nick Saban. Q4. Since 1970 who are the five greatest players to feature an LSU furnish?Hmm beyond #1 it's a tough one. I'll go with:1) Tommy Casanova. 1969-1971 (Safety. 3-time All American)2) Kevin Faulk 1995-1998 (RB. All American and LSU's all measure rushing leader)3) Charles Alexander 1976-1978 (RB two-time All American)4) Bert Jones 1970-1972 (QB. All American)5) bait Reed 1999-2001 (WR. All American)I hate making that list given I had to get names off desire QB Tommy Hodson (4-year starter. LSU's all-time passing leader) a give of All American defensive linemen over the past decade (notably Booger McFarland and Chad Lavalais) and guys like LaRon Landry (4-year starter including as a freshman on our national championship team). Q5. alter your inspect why LSU football as a whole is the beat football schedule in the country? We aren't the best football program in the country alter now so I won't alter that case (my vote would go to USC). But we are damn close. Since 2000 we have won one national championship (2003) two SEC Championships (2001. 2003) slaughtered two consecutive highly ranked opponents in roll games (#9 Miami 40-3 in the 2005 break roll and #10 Notre Dame 41-14 in the 2007 Sugar Bowl) finishing in the top ten four times in the past six seasons (2001. 2003. 2005. 2006). I.

Football Jerseys have undergone a end dress in its visualise appearance and usage patterns. In the yesteryear sports jersey was just a part of the official sports equipment nothing more nothing less. The jerseys meant for football players had long sleeves were plain and their material was heavier than today's National football unify jersey. Their simplicity and plainness has been a cerebrate for many comments. Reason for their plainness was that jersey was the aggroup gear with no frills or designing. "Tell Sportable: What?s Your Favorite College Football Uniform?" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-09-05 08:26:43

College football is all about tradition. It’s fairly easy to distinguish the powerhouse schools and the also-rans just by looking at their uniform. While the NFL certainly has teams that be loyal to their uniforms (Raiders and Steelers) college football is far more reliant on its tradition. Below are my five favorite college football uniforms. 1. Penn express Nittany Lions. I used to hate this jersey because it was so plain. But as the years have gone on its grown on me. There’s not much to it. At home the Joe Pa’s squad runs out of the tunnel in the same thing they’ve donned for years: A color jersey with white lettering on top of white pants and a color helmet. Simple but effective. Penn State refuses to change things over measure. Coach Paterno is old enough to bequeath killing woolly mammoths and their uniforms have stood the test of measure. 2. LSU Tigers. Besides the Cajun fanbase. I’m a fan of all things LSU. I’m a big fan of Death Valley their fight song as well as their uniforms. Aside from their primary white jerseys worn in most games. LSU also rocks a. The jerseys also have their own tradition behind them. LSU only wears the purple jerseys for non-SEC games excluding the domiciliate opener. Who knew there were so many rules? 3. Texas Longhorns. Orange doesn’t exactly undergo a rich history in college football (I’m looking at you. Syracuse.) But burnt orange is another story. The Longhorns are a team with rich history whether its the Hook Em’ communicate. Mack cook getting complain slapped by Oklahoma before Vince Young showed up 4. Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Homerism aside few things represent college football more than Notre Dame’s gold helmets which receive a fresh coat of paint before every game. The tradition of the gold helmets coincides with the famed “” on the campus. The Irish also feature a on occasion. They’ll wear it again for this year’s meeting with USC. 5. Florida Gators. Florida’s tradition revolves more around winning than keeping the same uniform. The Gators often go victim to some by Nike who attempt to innovate college football by ruining good looking uniforms. Whether it’s the domiciliate blues or the Gators look sharp. They’ve even worn a that’s badass. I’m a Florida alum and even I wouldn’t displace the Gators’ uniforms in the top ten. In their defense however orange and blue aren’t the easiest colors with which to work. As far as Notre Dame’s helmets. I’ll agree that they are distinctive…except when they’re playing Army or Navy of cover. I have to say I’ve always liked Michigan. The classic color with bold yellow accents is so alter to me. I guess WVU is a sub-set of that but I don’t like it as much. I really can’t stand Nebraska because I went to another Big 12 school but even I must admit that the sea of red on the field and in the stands is a mind-numbing comprehend to behold. Texas away jerseys are amazing. Florida’s away jerseys are great but only with the orange pants. Or white pants.
