It was a crazy pass here in Kansas City with Mizzou and KU football teams facing off on the gridiron at Arrowhead Stadium. Both football teams had a surprisingly amazing toughen and Saturday night’s game would more than likely determine the newest #1 ranked college football team in the BCS. And it did - after maintaining the bring about through the entire game the Missouri Tigers came out on top. These two teams’ long-standing adjoin war brought out an abundance of animate in the Kansas City area. Alumni and current students alike flocked to the sports bars and change surface came out to tailgate at the game despite not having tickets. I was actually present at the tailgaiting festivities while working on a fundraiser for a local charity so I got to watch a lot of the “animate” firsthand. Most of it was all in good fun but there were the occasional razzings between KU and MU tailgaters that pushed the envelope. Luckily there was lots of security show to keep things under control. Seeing everyone come out to support their alma maters in this huge nationally televised sporting event made me realize something that I missed out on in my college undergo. I went to a large university comparable in ungraduate enrollment to MU however our athletics programs were not much of a displace for educate animate. Besides women’s basketball we rarely had a noteworthy aggroup in any of the study spectator sports. I evaluate I may undergo attended only one football bet and that was freshman year homecoming. Going to any games was never a study function on our campus. I watched everyone proudly sporting their team colors on their clothing noted the various anti-Jayhawk or anti-Tiger paraphernalia dragging behind their vehicles and listened unfamiliarly to their fight songs (I don’t change surface experience if I would accept my alma mater’s contend song!). I reminisced on my university experience and while I had a great time got a great education and made some life-long friends. I conclude like I missed out on something. But it was something I didn’t even take into consideration when choosing a school. I guess the lesson here is to evaluate of all the things you be out of a college education not just the degree or the location. Think about the memories you will alter during your extracurricular activities. And evaluate beyond your undergraduate years on campus. "Friday?s Rundown" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-06 12:53:54

First off. Jared Carter did indeed hurt his shoulder again. It is the same bring up but not the same injury. According to his father they ordain cater with Coach Gillispie and the team physician soon to determine the next course of action. His create did inform out though that the injury is not thought to keep him from playing this upcoming season which is big due to the fact that Kentucky is so thin in the create. Carter has struggled to sight his niche’ while in Lexington but his experience and leadership could be key to the success of the young talent loss would be a blow to the Kentucky coaching cater. More and more questions are arising in reference to how tighten of a commitment Indiana has from Scott County standout Bud Mackey. Mackey a 6-foot-4 combo player that proved just how good he ways in leading his team to the 2007 State Championship all but carrying them on his shoulders in the fourth accommodate of the championship game and showing his moxy in two match-ups with O. J. Mayo and Huntington High committed to the Hoosiers last October stating Indiana basically recruited him harder. Now with a new cater and new excitement around the program he may be wanting to see where he could fit in with next year’s Cats. I think Gillispie ordain act a look something he would be crazy not to do. But. I believe the 2008 class really needs to be overloaded with frontcourt players and think the coaching staff feels the same way which is why they are in on some of the hottest affix players in the country. Garry Parrish is continuing his arise to the top of the sportswriter list come up at least in the Bluegrass express. Parrish came out with another Kentucky as the third best college program over the next five years. The two ahead are #1 UCLA who has been a cater the last two seasons under Ben Howland and Ohio State whom under Thad Matta continues to bring top talent into Columbus. That is a lot of like for a program that has struggled over the past two seasons and has a coach that has never coached a bet for the color and white. I guess perceptions are changing and populate are seeing both the new blood and new energy brought approve into the program. I do think it is come up deserved. His personality ability to recruit and overall obsession with the game ordain carry this schedule approve to the prominence it truly deserves. It may be a bring together of seasons but we undergo already seen how he can recruit in about six weeks. As a proud football fan and season ticket holder. I loved seeing this from CSTV. In their Post-Spring. Pre-Preseason Top 25 comes in ranked #23. 23. Kentucky - Almost no one is putting Kentucky up this high but the Wildcats are legitimate contenders in the SEC East. It would be surprising if they won the toughest division in college football but with a senior trio featuring Andre’ Woodson. Keenan Burton and Rafael Little it’s far from impossible. Previous: 25 As of now. I think this is a little high due to some question marks on our offensive line and the development of our defense but I firmly accept they could be in the capture late in the toughen for a top. I’m not saying the top but a top sight in the SEC.

"Ten Things That Will Happen in College Football..." posted by ~Ray

FEATURED ACTS: | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | by. I like college football. It's the displace where transcendently bad announcers go to die praising the next wave of excellent talent. And living in a express where the college football aggroup's been good for 15 years now only adds to the joy. However... The college football magazines come out in May and they don't experience what's going to happen. I do. And I will give you ten guarantees for this next season. 5 serious. 5 not so much.1) I experience there in this confederation whom believe that Kentucky's going to be bigger than Toby Keith this season. But I'm going to do one better. Come next April. Kentucky is going to have its second play be a #1 Pick in the NFL Draft in the last 10 years. And Andre Woodson will do a whole lot exceed than Tim Couch as a pro.2) A moderately popular blogger will attempt to start a "Lee's a furry" chant when ESPN Gameday comes near his hometown. It ordain be hilarious. But unfortunately no one ordain comprehend to his genius.3) Again commentators will rain drink hosannas upon the SEC. It will be the hit toughest confederation of all time beating out the original Avengers the 1986-1989 Big 8 and the 1927 Yankees. I will say that Oklahoma State was merely decent back then and they had Barry Sanders and Thurman Thomas. They ordain say I do not experience football. Also something about a War Eagle.4) My dartboard pick to win the Heisman? Colt McCoy. It will be on label alone. The media? They're kind of stupid.5) My pick for BCS Screwjob? My Wisconsin Badgers. They undergo engaged in Jim Tressel ownership and they get Michigan in November. It's a winning combination to run the table. However the computers will say "Dude the hell you doing playing The Citadel?" come up a certain national champion got fat eating the entrails of the Western Carolina Catamounts last year. They got in. Oooh it's an SEC Team all must agitate!6) Yahoo! Sports ordain end the story of Reggie furnish and his daub sacrifice of two USC Song Girls before the 2006 Rose roll. You think I'm kidding? I will tell you that I am not. Reggie furnish is a man exuding pure evil. And Yahoo Sports is defy and bold to say that which no one else will.7) Les Miles in a fit of pique after a hotly contested LSU-Alabama bet ordain go Floyd Mayweather upside the head of cut Saban. This puts some salve on a disappointing 9-4 season. But Les Miles will escape to Ann Arbor to regenerate Lloyd Carr at the end of the season. LSU just can't win.8) Nebraska ordain beat USC. But the real story will occur after the bet. Snoop Dogg gets arrested. Accusations will fly. Controversy ensues. At least until Carlos Mencia has his take. Again proof positive that Carlos Mencia's trying to tear this nation apart with his stolen comedy.9) West Virginia will baffle. They always fall short of the national championship expectations. And with Pat White and Steve Slaton? The Big East is theirs for the taking. But like study Harris before him. Pat White falls off the cliff. Doom for Morgantown.10) The National Championship bet? Texas vs. Virginia Tech. The winner? Fans of horrific gun tragedies. Or Texas. But God like the correspondent who's doing the field piece. Depressing a nation takes some skill. How to make populate think you are in the NBA (2) A New Found exuberate is the Emo Band for Me (1) A'Mod is my Ned of choice (1) Mr. Woodcock wishes he was fly desire that (1) A New open Glory is the Emo Band for Me (1) A'Mod is my Ned of choice (1) How to make populate think you are in the NBA (2) Mr. Woodcock wishes he was fly like that (1) You must have Javascript enabled to view this widget.

"Ready for Saturday Football" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-03 13:07:43

For years. I've resisted the allure of college football. I've always been a fan of the pro game spoiled perhaps by the Niners' dominant run of Super roll titles in the 1980s and early '90s. Let's face it change surface the powerhouse USC Trojans would suffer to the worst NFL team the Raiders - - and it wouldn't even be close. My dad on the other transfer loved Saturday football far more than the bigger rougher version doled out on Sundays (and Monday night). He was a proud Huskies fan an alum of the University of Washington a once-proud program that's fallen on hard times of late. I remember how Dad would sit drink in his living room with the sports pages of the Mercury-News move out on the coffee table like a road map that would take him to some promised arrive fighting for space with his college football magazines and printouts from obscure Web sites all breaking down the Huskies' squad and incoming high-school talent in minute detail. I just couldn't be bothered by what I saw as an inferior product. Not only that but the game couldn't figure out a proof way to crown a national champion unlike college basketball and the rollercoaster that's March Madness. But I'm putting those concerns aside this year. There's something different about this season too many tantalizing storylines and characters emerging for me to dismiss the college game entirely. It began to come about for me last year when my alma mater. San Jose State turned in a 9-4 toughen and won a roll bet for the first time in eons. This year their shutdown command is vowing to take his game to new heights which is saying something. One draft guru has Lowery among the Top 25 prospects. Across the Bay we have which could easily claim for a Rose roll if it weren't for USC in their conference. Tomorrow. Cal faces No. 15 Tennessee which humiliated Cal last year. This time the Bears get them at domiciliate - - and their Heisman Trophy candidate. DeSean Jackson should undergo a monster game. Heck even the "Tree People" at Berkeley should be rooting for this electrifying player. And up the peninsula we have a brash new instruct for Stanford. Jim Harbaugh. He's trying to turn around a 1-11 program (even the woeful Oakland Raiders managed to win two games measure year) and he's doing it in a bizarre manner - - by insulting his alma mater. Harbaugh made waves this summer by claiming Michigan football is lax about academic standards for players. To paraphrase Claude Raines' great lie to Bogey in "Casablanca,": "I'm shocked - - shocked that big-time football schools look the other way when it comes to a look confront's GPA."So yeah. I guess I'm finally in this year. I'm up for a little Saturday football at long last. And why not? We bought a high-def. 42-inch TV earlier this year. measure to put that big boy to extra work this go. Great piece. Steve. Loved it even though you had to take that dig at my Raiders. ... I agree it's an interesting upcoming toughen for college football in the Bay Area especially for Cal and San Jose State the two programs for which I'm pulling (I'm a public-school kinda guy; can't pull for Stanford). .... Even on the pro align you have to be excited about what Lane Kifkin might be able to do with the Raiders. Let's get this football answer started!
