Cotton Bowl makes play to join BCS

The Dallas Cowboys’ new 80,000-seat stadium in Arlington. Texas might be just the key to unlock the Cotton Bowl’s inclusion in one of college football’s most exclusive clubs: The BCS.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones who has a special place in his heart for the Cotton Bowl after helping Arkansas win the national championship there in 1965 with a win over Nebraska hopes the bowl game that has been played since 1937 can join the BCS according to a published report.
I’ve always been bummed that the Cotton Bowl dropped down in stature after the advent of the BCS—it has much more tradition than the Fiesta. And if they’re adding another BCS game they’re one step closer to a plus-one. Which would suck for CommishRob who’s still hoping to go back to the era of split national titles and UPI handing out crowns but great for everyone else who thinks a semifinal playoff is better than the garbage we have now.

We interurpt the Bowl Previews for Cotton Bowl News

 <modified>2007-12-30T19:55+00:00

I'd desire to go ahead and announce that I'll be contributing to so be sure to checkit out!
Also. I'm announcing the debut of!
The new stadium for the Dallas Cowboys that will now host the Red River Shoot Out and the Cotton Bowl wants to be part of a new BCS bowl game in 2011. This has been reported on that Jerry Jones is trying to get the Cotton Bowl into the BCS in 2011. I personally thought that the Cotton Bowl should have been in instead of the Fiesta Bowl but since the Cotton Bowl is an outdoor stadium and weather is an air in Texas in January. The Cotton Bowl can start with talks in 2008 about inclusion. The new stadium can hold anywhere between 80,000 to 100,000 fans which makes it attractive for a BCS game and be part of the rotation for the national title game. Prior to the BCS and the Bowl Collation the like Bowl was on par with the Fiesta. Orange and the other top bowls. Another article I found in the that was talking about the possibility of adding the Cotton roll to the BCS rotation. An interesting quote from the paper "Members of the like Bowl Association anticipate that [the stadium] should prepare the way for the Cotton Bowl to join the BCS roll lineup of the Orange. Sugar. Fiesta. Rose and the championship game."So we are going to have 5 BCS bowl games plus the BCS championship bet and then the additional payout? 6 games is not realistic because then you are watering down what are suppose to be the best of the best in college football. If the Cotton Bowl were to get into the BCS then there are really only 2 choices in my opinion for it to come about. They are to kick out a current BCS bowl and with that scenario the bowl that gets snubbed would do whatever they would to stay in because if there are 5 games and 4 bowls then the one that is out loses A LOT of money from not being involved in the BCS bet and the title bet every 4 years. Or keep the BCS at 5 games and that would convey no manifold hosting and in this case all 4 of the current bowls would not be to consider the Cotton Bowl to overlap their millions. Money is the key word here so why would the other bowls be to overlap the TV deal and lose the double hosting feature every 4 years? The new stadium would have the same seating capacity as the Rose Bowl and that might be enough to get them in. If a roll were to be replaced it most likely would be the Orange Bowl because the Rose has the tradition the Fiesta Bowl has the new stadium in Glendale so it comes down to the Orange and Sugar..
